Hilton Head Island, SC. - The Illinois Tech men's and women's tennis teams both played their final matches of their spring break trip on Friday afternoon, this time with both squads playing at the same time against the same school, Asbury University. While both Scarlet Hawks teams were looking to improve to 2-1 during their stay at Hilton Head Island, SC, the Eagles had other plans, as they defeated the men's team 7-2 and the women's team 8-1. The Scarlet Hawks men's team fell to 3-8 on the season, while the women's team dropped to 4-12. Asbury improved to 6-2 in men's play, and their women's team remained undefeated, improving to 7-0.
Men's Tennis Final - Asbury 7 - Illinois Tech 2
Doubles Play (Asbury 2 - Illinois Tech 1)
The Scarlet Hawks were able to take one of the three doubles matches, as the number one pairing of Davis Housman and Alann Torres claimed an 8-7 victory on a 10-6 tiebreaker. Nabil Fawaz and Pol Dueso Guell dropped their number two doubles match 1-8, and the number three team of Avneet Singh and Eduardo Lopez fell 0-8.
Singles Play (Asbury 5 - Illinois Tech 1)
Lopez was the sole victor in singles play for the Scarlet Hawks, as he won in a marathon number five match against Asbury's Ignacio Murillo by the score of 5-7, 6-4 and 1-0, with the third-set tiebreaker going to 11-9. Housman fell in the number one match 3-6, 3-6; Torres lost in the number two match 4-6, 1-6; Fawaz dropped his number three match 2-6, 1-6; Dueso Guell lost his number four match 2-6, 4-6; Singh lost in the number six match 1-6, 1-6.

Doubles Play (Asbury 3 - Illinois Tech 0)
The Scarlet Hawks were shut out in doubles play against the Eagles. Hannah Markiewicz and Sofia Zaballa Martinez lost in their number one doubles match 3-8; Paige Geiger and Maria Moran Moran Miranda lost 0-8 in the number two doubles match; Ashley Dame and Rhea Karumuru battled but eventually fell 4-8 in their number three doubles match.
Singles Play (Asbury 5 - Illinois Tech 1)
Moran Miranda claimed the sole victory for the Scarlet Hawks in singles play, as she won a hard-fought number five match against Asbury's Mikaela West 4-6, 7-6(7-3), and 1-0(10-7). Markiewicz fell 2-6, 1-6 in the number one match; Zaballa Martinez lost 2-6, 1-6 in the number two match; Geiger dropped the number three match 0-6, 2-6; Dame lost 6-7(3-7), 1-6 in the number four match; and Karumuru fell 0-6, 1-6 in the number six match.
