Beloit, Wis. - After a venue change due to previous rainfall in Rockford, Ill. the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks baseball team took on the Rockford University Regents in Wisconsin at ABC Supply Stadium. The Hawks (5-11, 2-2) and Regents (5-11, 1-1) competed in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) double header which resulted in a 15-6 game one victory and a 6-5 loss in game two for the Hawks.
Game One (Illinois Tech 15 - Rockford 6)

Following a scoreless first inning, the Hawks got the bats flying with an 11-run second inning. With one out and bases loaded, Mason Kim stepped up to bat and put the Hawks ahead with a double to right center, scoring Samuel Sproule and Michael Lindenmuth. After a hit by pitch, the bases would once again be loaded. A single by Matthew Bove brought in Lucas Waunn to bring the Hawks score to 3-0. In the following at-bat, Tyler Gutsfeld singled to right field, bringing home Jack Friar and Kim. Michael Paxson then followed with a double to left center field, scoring Bove and advancing Gutsfeld to third. After a fielding error by the Regents, Connor Blake reached first while Bove and Paxson scored. The runs weren't done scoring yet as Kim once again stepped up to bat in the top of the second inning. This time with two outs and bases loaded, Kim would once again double, this time to right center, bringing in all three base runners. After the top of the second, the Regents would score one run to get on the scoreboard with a run off a fielding error. At the end of the second inning, the Hawks comfortably led the Regents 11-1.

During the third inning both sides added one run to their score. Friar scored for the Hawks when Paxson grounded out to the shortstop, giving the Hawks 12 runs. A Regent single to left field scored one runner, making the score 12-2 in favor of the Hawks.

After a scoreless fourth inning, both teams once again brought in one run during the fifth inning. Following a throwing error by the Regents, Friar once again scored for the Hawks. In the bottom half of the inning, the Regents also picked up a run off an error. After five innings, the Hawks led the Regents by 10-runs as the scoreboard read 13-3.

In the sixth inning, the Regents added three runs to their score total. A Jake Bilotta triple to right center brought in two runners before a Kadin Bergstrom single to center field scored Bilotta. At the end of the inning, the Hawks stayed ahead of the Regents by a score of 13-6.

In the final inning of game one, the Hawk put up two more runners to secure their 15-6 victory over the Regents. Another double by Paxson to center field scored Tanner Jenkins before Timmy Old scored the final runner of the game when he brought home Paxson off a single to left field.

Game Two (Rockford 6 - Illinois Tech 5 (10 innings))

For game two of the day, the Regents got the action going early with two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, the Regents picked up one more run when an Alex Perez single to right field scored Enrique Melendez Jr.

The third and fourth inning would go by with no runs from either side before the Regents added two more runs to their score in the bottom of the fifth inning. Joseph Stagowski scored one run while Bilotta scored the next.

During the top of the sixth inning the Hawks scored their first run of the game. With bases loaded and one out, a hit by pitch would allow Blake to reach home and give the Hawks a run on the board. At the end of the sixth inning, the Hawks trailed the Regents 5-1.

More runs would come for the Hawks in the top of the seventh. After being walked, Bove would go on to score off a Paxson double down the left field line. Paxson would then score in the following at-bat off a Blake double down the left field line. After the seventh inning, the Hawks were within two of the Regents.

The Hawks would tie the game up in the ninth inning at 5-5 when Luke Yachnin came in to pinch run for Blake. Yachnin reached home off a Sproule single to send the game into extra innings.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, their comeback efforts fell short as the Regents scored the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning with a sacrifice fly.
