Second Half Rally Comes Up Short For Men's Lacrosse

Mequon, Wis. - After spotting Concordia Wisconsin a 12-3 halftime lead, the Illinois Tech men's lacrosse team staged a furious third quarter comeback to pull within 13-9 heading into the final quarter. But the Falcons regrouped in the final frame, outscoring the Hawks 5-1 en route to their 18-10 victory Saturday afternoon in Wisconsin. With the win, the Falcons secured the number two seed in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Lacrosse tournament, and the right to host the Scarlet Hawks next Wednesday in the semi-final round.

The Scarlet Hawks finished the regular season 8-7 overall and 6-2 in NACC play. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the two conference losses to close out the regular season dropped them from a first place tie with number one seed Aurora to the number three seed, after the Falcons.

The Falcons finished 7-1 in conference play, while Aurora, as the number one seed, went a perfect 8-0 in the NACC.

Jackson Brass paced the Scarlet Hawks with 5 goals on 13 shots, while recovering 3 ground balls. Reed Tangeman had 2 goals and 1 assist, while Yano Porter had 1 goal and 1 assist. Kyle Johnson made 16 saves in the loss. Caleb Ruger had 5 goals for Concordia Wisconsin, while teammate Max Esposito had 8 assists. Falcons' goalkeeper Travis Marquardt also had 16 saves.
