Chicago, Ill. - With an important conference road match on the docket for this Sunday, the Illinois Tech men's tennis team had to make sure they weren't looking past their preceding home match with Concordia Chicago. Mission accomplished, as the Scarlet Hawks took care of business, sweeping their match against the Cougars 9-0 Tuesday night at the XS Tennis Center. The Scarlet Hawks improved to 3-0 in conference play, and to 6-9 overall. The Cougars open NACC play 0-1, and sit at 0-5 overall.
The Scarlet Hawks dropped only five games the entire match: one in doubles play and four in singles play.
Doubles Play (Illinois Tech 3 - CUC 0)
The Scarlet Hawks swept doubles play. The number one team of Davis Housman and Alann Torres won 8-1. The number two team of Jordan Lauer and Avneet Singh prevailed 8-0, and the number three team of Pol Dueso Guell and Nabil Fawaz also swept their match, 8-0.
Singles Play (Illinois Tech 6 - CUC 0)
Illinois Tech won all six singles matches in straight sets, with four of the matches clean sweeps. Housman won his number one singles match 6-2, 6-1. Torres claimed the number two singles match 6-0, 6-0. Fawaz dropped only 1 game in his 6-1, 6-0 number three singles win. And Dueso Guell, Eduardo Lopez and Avneet Singh swept their number four, five and six singles match respectively, 6-0, 6-0.
