Chicago, Ill. – The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks women's basketball played host to the Dominican University Stars Wednesday night in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) contest. In a game that saw five ties and seven lead changes, the Hawks (7-9, 3-4) came out on top, earning their second win in a week, as they defeated the Stars (5-11, 1-6) 69-55 on Joe Hakes Court.
Although the opening basket went in favor of the Stars, the Hawks immediately jumped ahead, holding the lead until the 4:38 mark when a Stars three tied the contest 9-9. Four more ties followed through the remainder of the first quarter. Throwing up a jumper, the Stars took a one point, 20-19 lead at the buzzer. At the beginning of the second quarter started off with a Halle Williams jumper assisted by Kaya Jones followed by a Camden Joko three pointer. With Williams jumper at the beginning of the quarter, the Hawks led for the rest of the contest. On three separate occasions during the second quarter, the Hawks held a seven-point lead. During the final minute and a half of the second quarter, the Stars cut into the Hawks lead with a three pointer and a layup. At halftime, the Hawks held a 35-33 lead.
Third quarter action began with the Hawks holding onto their lead while the Stars fought to keep it close. At the 7:22 mark, the Hawks held a 43-39 lead before a two-and-a-half-minute draught between the two sides followed. Williams broke the drought with a free throw at 4:56. At the end of the third quarter, the Hawks led 50-44. Three jumpers by Julia Bucci, Miabella Spica, and Grace Goodnough kicked off fourth quarter action and put the Hawks ahead 56-44. Through the final quarter, the Hawks steadily built up their lead, eventually holding an 18-point, 68-50 lead following a made free throw by Joko. A free throw by Chloe Churilla closed out the contest, giving the Hawks a 69-55 victory.

Camden Joko recorded a season high 16 points after going 4-of-7 (57.1%) from the field, 4-of-6 (66.7%) from three, and 4-of-6 (66.7%) from the free throw line. Joko finished with three assists and one steal
