Men's Soccer Completes Comeback Win on the Road

Plymouth, Wis. — Illinois Tech Men's Soccer (6-5-2, 3-3-1) secured a 2-1 victory over Lakeland University (4-6-2, 1-4-2) with a pair of second-half goals at Taylor Field on Wednesday night.

The match opened with Illinois Tech and Lakeland vying for control, as both teams exchanged fouls early in the first half. Illinois Tech's Mateo Secaira and Logan Garcia attempted to find the net with shots going wide, while Lakeland's Dunia Wangu also missed before finding the goal in the 36th minute, assisted by Jordan Davis-Troller. Illinois Tech's Cal Graham and Paul Balea challenged Lakeland goalkeeper Matt English, who made critical saves to maintain the home team's lead. The period concluded with Lakeland leading 1-0, as the teams headed into the break.

Illinois Tech leveled the score against Lakeland in the second half with an early goal by Adam Lazarowicz in the 66th minute. Secaira then gave Illinois Tech the lead with a 74th-minute goal, making the score 2-1. Lakeland's Porter Gigstead and Wangu each had shots that missed the target, and Scarlet Hawk goalkeeper Colin Thomas recorded a crucial save against Roman Riggs in the 64th minute. Illinois Tech maintained pressure with several shots and corner kicks, while Lakeland's defense, led by English, managed multiple saves to keep the match close until the final whistle.
