Chicago, Ill. - Antonia Martinez continued her torrid offensive output, scoring five times for Illinois Tech women's lacrosse in their 22-6 non-conference loss to Whitworth University at a sunny but frigid Stuart Field Saturday afternoon. The Scarlet Hawks dropped to 1-7 on the season. Whitworth improved to 2-3.
The five goals by Martinez marked her second-highest output on the season, eclipsed by her seven goal game in the Scarlet Hawks' 12-8 win against Hanover on March 13th. Martinez has now scored 21 goals on the season, ranking 4th among her peers in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). Martinez also had 4 draw controls and 4 ground balls.
Mercy Godfrey recorded a season-high 18 saves in the contest, facing 47 shots from the visitors.Â
Iona Pettigrew had the Scarlet Hawks other goal, scoring on a free position attempt midway through the fourth quarter for her third goal of the season.
Ellie Post tallied a season-high two draw controls to go along with three ground balls recovered.
