Verona, Wis. - After starting the season with eight non-conference matches, it was finally time for the Illinois Tech women's lacrosse team to open conference play when they traveled to Edgewood on Wednesday to take on the host Eagles. Edgewood would ride a 10-0 first half advantage to carry them to a 17-3 victory. The Scarlet Hawks open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play 0-1 and fall to 1-8 overall. The Eagles start NACC play 1-0 and improved to 2-5 overall.
Illinois Tech's
Antonia Martinez continued to be the main scoring threat for the Scarlet Hawks, finishing the game with three goals, giving her 24 goals on the season. Martinez finished with 3 goals on 9 shots, 5 on goal. She also recovered 3 ground balls, had 1 caused turnover and won 6 draw controls.
Isabelle Niebler had 6 ground balls, 4 caused turnovers and won 2 draw controls.
Ellie Post finished with 3 ground balls and 1 caused turnovers.
Goalkeeper
Mercy Godfrey recorded 12 saves in the loss, while recovering 7 ground balls and causing 2 turnovers.
