Women's Lacrosse Drops Match At Conference-Unbeaten Aurora

Aurora, Ill. - Illinois Tech women's lacrosse traveled to Aurora on Wednesday afternoon for an early evening match against the conference-undefeated Spartans. The Spartans showed why they are at the top of the standings, overwhelming the short-handed Scarlet Hawks 24-1. The Hawks had only nine healthy players dressed for the match.

Isabelle Niebler scored the lone goal for the Scarlet Hawks, an unassisted tally at the 10:36 mark of the second quarter. For Niebler, it was her eighth goal of the season. Niebler is second on the team in scoring with 11 points on eight goals and three assists. She has scored a goal in three of her last four matches. Niebler also recovered three ground balls, had one caused turnover and won one draw control.

Antonia Martinez recovered four ground balls, had three caused turnovers and won four draw controls.

Aislinn McManus finished with a career-high 3 ground balls on the evening.

Victoria Akirtava added two ground balls.

Aurora's Brianna Peck led all scorers with nine points on seven goals and two assists.

The Scarlet Hawks are back home on the Stuart Field turf this Saturday, when they host Cornell College at 1:00 PM as part of a lacrosse double header with Cornell along with the Scarlet Hawks' men's team playing at 3:00 PM.
