Men's Tennis Blanks Concordia Wisconsin To Move To 2-1 In NACC Play

Chicago, Ill. - After playing a scrimmage match against Prairie State College on Saturday, the Illinois Tech men's tennis team was back into conference play on Saturday afternoon, when they hosted Concordia Wisconsin at the XS Tennis Center. The Scarlet Hawks came out ready to play, blanking the Falcons 7-0 to improve to 2-1 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play, and to 6-8 overall. The Falcons suffered their first conference defeat, falling to 2-1 and to 7-8 overall.

Doubles Play - Illinois Tech 2 - Concordia Wisconsin 1 (Illinois Tech wins lone doubles point)
  • The Falcons gained the first match win, as their number one doubles team of Landon Sather and Joshua Klement defeated the Hawks' Avneet Singh and Alexander Feher 6-2.
  • The Hawks number two doubles team of Pedro Caroa-Accino Roca and Hozumi Tada evened doubles play with their 6-1 victory over Renan Revite and Hayden Latus.
  • Pol Dueso Guell and Eduardo Lopez gave the Scarlet Hawks the deciding match victory with their 6-3 win over Ryan Bilan and Dylan Nadolski in the number three singles match, giving the Hawks a 2-1 edge in doubles play to secure the lone doubles point.
Singles Play - Illinois Tech 6 - Concordia Wisconsin 0 (Illinois Tech wins the match 7-0)
  • Roca won a three-set victory over Sather 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 in the number one singles match.
  • Feher rebounded from his doubles loss to win a three-set battle over Latus 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) in the number two singles match.
  • Dueso Guell defeated Revite 6-4, 6-4 in the number three singles match, allowing the Hawks to clinch the match victory with their fourth point.
  • Tada had a tough battle with Bilan in his number four singles match, going into tie-breakers in both sets before winning 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (8-6).
  • Lopez took down Klement 7-5, 7-5 in the number five singles match. For Lopez, it was his fifth consecutive singles victory.
  • Singh won his second consecutive singles match, defeating Nadolski in the number six singles match 6-1, 6-1
