Chicago, Ill. - Gabriella Baltes of women's soccer and Cal Graham of men's soccer are the recipients of Scarlet Hawk of the Week honors for the week of September 1st.
Baltes, a senior defender and Biochemistry major from Plymouth, Minnesota, scored the game-winning goal and only goal in the Scarlet Hawks 1-0 victory over North Central College last Wednesday, September 3rd. Baltes' goal with seconds remaining in the first half broke a scoreless tie, and Baltes and the Hawks' defense and goalkeeping kept the Cardinals off the board for the entire game. Baltes also helped shut down Elmhurst University on Saturday, September 6th, with the Hawks picking up a 4-0 home victory. Baltes has helped lead a Scarlet Hawks defense that has not allowed a goal all season through three matches, with Baltes playing all 90 minutes in each match.
Graham, a sophomore forward and Computer Science major from Parker, Colorado, tallied 4 goals for the week, including 3 goals in the first half of the Scarlet Hawks huge 5-3 win over Hope College on Tuesday, September 2nd. Graham also scored the eventual game-winning goal in the Scarlet Hawks 3-2 victory over Caltech on Friday, September 5th. For the week, Graham had 5 total shots, with 4 on frame and 4 goals scored, in 126 minutes played.
