Chicago, Ill. - Victoria Aspurez of women's volleyball and Maddalena Elisa Rosati Dumangane of women's tennis are the recipients of Scarlet Hawk of the Week honors for the week of September 8th.
Aspurez, a junior Psychology major from Lakewood, California, racked up 28 kills over four matches played last week, with a 1.87 kills per set average and a team-high .329 hitting percentage. Aspurez paced the Scarlet Hawks with 12 blocks last week, with 3 solo blocks and 9 block assists for a 0.80 blocks per set average. Aspurez added 4 service aces and 15 digs. Aspurez currently ranks 3rd in the NACC with a 3.01 hitting percentage and 4th in blocks per set at 0.89.
Rosati Dumangane, a junior Electrical Engineering major from Milan, Italy, went 3-1 for the week in the Scarlet Hawks two conference match victories, helping Illinois Tech improve to 3-0 overall in NACC play. Rosati Dumangane went 2-0 in #2 singles play, with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over MSOE's Stephania Gonzalez on September 10th, followed by a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory at St. Norbert against the Green Knights' Allison Unverzagt on September 13th. In #2 doubles play with partner Maia Lecuona Ramos, Rosati Dumangane went 1-1, with a 6-4 victory over MSOE's Delaney Premeau and Amelia Segelstrom, and a hard-fought 5-7 loss to St. Norbert's Alyssa Tegen and Irene Multhauf.
