Montgomery, Ill. — Illinois Tech Men's Soccer (3-3-0, 0-1-0) was defeated by Aurora University (2-2-2, 1-0-0) by a 4-0 final at Spartan Athletic Park. Aurora's offense was led by a hat trick performance by Jose Roman. Illinois Tech holds a 3-3-0 overall record and is 0-1-0 in conference play. Aurora stands at 2-2-2 overall with a 1-0-0 conference record. Illinois Tech fell to 0-6 lifetime against Aurora.
The first half started with Aurora taking control after an early foul by Illinois Tech's
Adam Lazarowicz. Aurora capitalized on their momentum with Josue Roman scoring the first goal in the 22nd minute. Roman doubled the lead for Aurora in the 32nd minute, cementing their advantage. Despite Illinois Tech earning several corner kicks, they were unable to convert them into goals, while
David Rodriguez, Tech's goalkeeper, made a crucial save against a shot from Branden Dolezal to keep the score at 2-0 in favor of Aurora at the end of the half.
Aurora extended their lead early in the second half with a goal by Luca Avendano at the 50th minute, bringing the score to 3-0. Illinois Tech's
Dominik Kroupa attempted to respond with a shot in the 51st minute, but it was saved by AU's goalkeeper Alex Ageladelis. Despite numerous attempts from Roman, who fired four shots between the 53rd and 75th minutes, Aurora managed only one more goal, scored by Roman himself at the 73rd minute, assisted by Carlos Viayra. The Hawks continued to press forward, with multiple shots on goal, but failed to convert any into scores, concluding the half with a 4-0 deficit.
