Chicago, Ill — Illinois Technology Women's Soccer (5-0-1, 1-0-0) secured a decisive 4-0 victory over Aurora University (0-6-0, 0-1-0) on Wednesday at Stuart Field, with Illinois Tech's defense not allowing a single shot on goal. Illinois Tech improved to 5-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play following their victory. Aurora fell to 0-6-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference competition.
Illinois Tech started the first half with an offensive surge, as
Taylor Hernandez scored the opening goal in the 11th minute, assisted by
Tvesa Vathulya. Less than a minute later,
Kelly Hitchcock extended the lead with another goal, again with Vathulya providing the assist. The momentum continued as
Kaitlyn Walsh and
Kayla Smith each found the back of the net in the 33rd and 34th minutes, respectively, securing a commanding 4-0 advantage for the Scarlet Hawks by the end of the half.
The second half began with Illinois Tech maintaining the offensive momentum, executing three consecutive corner kicks by the 50th minute. Smith and Hernandez were active in attack, each registering shots during this stretch. Despite multiple attempts on goal, including a late save against
Annika Torbenson in the 85th minute, Illinois Tech held the advantage, closing the game with a 4-0 victory. Illinois Tech is now 6-0 lifetime against Aurora, dating back to their first match in 2018.
