The Scarlet Hawks secured the win with two first-half goals and maintained their lead with an additional goal in the second half, despite the Cougars' single goal effort. Illinois Tech moved to 4-4-1 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play following the victory. Concordia Chicago dropped to 1-7-1 overall and 0-3-0 in conference competition after the loss.
Illinois Tech started the first half strong against Concordia Chicago, with
Colin Thomas in goal for the hosts. Illinois Tech's
Mateo Secaira opened the scoring in the 10th minute, giving the home team an early lead. Despite several offside calls against the Scarlet Hawks, they maintained their attacking momentum.
Tomas Rebelatto extended the lead with a goal in the 42nd minute, concluding the half with a 2-0 advantage for Illinois Tech. The Cougars managed multiple shots on goal, but Thomas's solid performance in goal prevented any scoring.
Paul Balea scored for Illinois Tech in the 61st minute with an assist from
Ben Mehl, extending their lead to 3-0. Concordia Chicago responded with a penalty kick goal by Justin Ocampo in the 84th minute, narrowing the deficit to 3-1. Both goalkeepers,
