How It Happened
The game kicked off with Illinois Tech grabbing an early lead courtesy of a layup by
Lea Petitjean at 9:13. Benedictine quickly leveled with a jumper from Allison Jarvis at 7:54. Jarvis continued to impact the game with another layup, igniting a series of plays that pushed the Eagles ahead. Hailey Bachmann's three-pointer, assisted by Alexis Schueler at 6:28, widened the gap. Despite a free throw by
Abigail Marino, the Scarlet Hawks struggled to find their groove. Emily Rich's buzzer-beating three-pointer at 00:07 closed the first quarter, giving the Eagles a 16-5 lead.
In the second quarter, the Eagles capitalized on turnovers and a strong bench to increase their lead, finishing the quarter 16-10. Addison Bryant led the charge with a free throw and a layup, while Catey Carney added a three-pointer at 9:05.
Miabella Spica was a bright spot for Illinois Tech, contributing two jumpers. Despite two steals from
Berit Rusing, the Scarlet Hawks committed six turnovers, allowing the Eagles to maintain their control by halftime.
Benedictine came out ready to shot in the third quarter, outscoring Illinois Tech 29-12.
