Women's Soccer Pushes Win Streak To 8 With Road Win At Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Illinois Tech women's soccer defeated Marian (WI) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon, extending their season best winning stream to 8 games in the process. The Scarlet Hawks scored twice in each half and held a 16-6 shot advantage, including 9-3 on goal.

The Scarlet Hawks are 9-3-0 overall and 6-0-0 in conference play. The Sabres are 2-7-2 overall and 1-5-0 in conference play.

How It Happened

The Scarlet Hawks built pressure through the first half with corner kicks at 11:32, 12:26, 17:39, 20:46 and 21:41, and Emma Conway put a shot on frame that was saved by the team at 17:55. Eva Narvarte converted a penalty kick at 24:19, finishing inside the right post to open the scoring and give the Scarlet Hawks a 1-0 lead. The Scarlet Hawks stayed on the attack, earning another corner at 29:13 before Taylor Hernandez scored at 29:25 off an assist from Grace Yager from 25 yards out on the left side inside the far post. Gabrielle West forced a save in the 35th minute and Hernandez added two more late shots as the Scarlet Hawks took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After Narvarte forced a save at 49:08, the Sabres scored at 50:19 through Sophia Romo, with assists from Jasmin Molina and Brianna Guelig, to make it 2-1. The Scarlet Hawks followed with pressure, earning corners at 51:37 and 55:37 and getting attempts from Kayla Frassinelli and Narvarte before Hernandez set up Kaitlyn Walsh at 67:35 for a finish from the top left of the box that moved the score to 3-1. The Sabres generated late chances with a shot at 80:52, a corner at 82:04 and a Brianna Guelig attempt at 82:30, but Tvesa Vathulya scored at 83:48 after dribbling into the box and finishing under the crossbar. Kayla Hampton saved Romo's 84:54 shot amid the Sabres' final push, and the Scarlet Hawks closed out a 4-1 win.
