NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Illinois Tech men's track and field team followed up the outstanding performance of the women's team on the second day of the Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 14th at the Al B. Carrius Track on North Central College's campus.
Sprints
Carson Owens secured 1st place in the Men's 400 Meters with a time of 49.82. In the Men's 60 Meters, Jack Lin claimed PR with a time of 7.81. Michael Cruz finished achieving a PR in the Men's 200 Meters with a time of 24.16.
Distance
Jonathan Garcia-Hernandez fought his way to a new PR in the Men's 3000 Meters with a time of 9:54.47.
Jumps
Jack Lin achieved PR in the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 5.59m.
Throws
De'Andre De La Fuente threw two PR's one in Shot Put (9.80m) and another in Weight Throw (11.08m)

Head coach Tyler McQuality was only looking forward to the next week after the team's great performances. "Our men continue to improve in the things we have worked on in practice, and we are excited to have the whole team back together when we return to competition on Friday," said McQuality.
From sprints coach Brendan Batliner: "The men's team achieved solid results two weeks out from our conference championships, with both physical fitness and mental preparation gearing up for a great showing for the NACC!"
Looking back, throws coach Lucas Taylor wanted to express his excitement for the results to come as well as the improvements seen weekly: "The throwers were highlighted by Dre achieving 2 new PR's while the other throwers had technical improvements that will pay off as the season progresses."
