Swimming & Diving Closes Out Regular Season - Looks Forward To Conference

Men's Team Finishes 6-1 In Dual Meet Competition

Lake Forest, Ill. - In the final regular season meet of the season before the conference championships, the Illinois Tech swimming and diving team earned a split in the men's and women's dual meets at Lake Forest College on Saturday, January 31st, with both teams earning several first-place finishes, a pool record set on the men's side, and the men's team earning their highest win total since the 2019-2020 season.

The men's team came away with a 148-87 win over the Foresters men's squad, while the women's team fell to the Foresters 151-81. 

For the men's team, they finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 6-1 record in dual meets, their highest win total since the 2019-20 season, when the Hawks secured 8 dual meet victories.

The combined Scarlet Hawks squads will now turn their attention to the Liberal Arts Conference Championships, which will take place February 11th-14th in Racine, Wisconsin.

Men's Meet Summary

Illinois Institute of Technology's men's team triumphed with a commanding victory over Lake Forest College, securing a team score of 148 points to Lake Forest's 87. Rose contributed significantly, winning the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 24.44 and the 100-meter butterfly in 1:00.65. Zeng Wye Liew also excelled, taking first place in both the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-meter breaststroke. Liew's time of 1:04.05 in the 100-meter breaststroke established a new Lake Forest College pool record. The Scarlet Hawks individual efforts were complemented by a first-place finish in the men's 200-meter medley relay, where Aidan Chance, Giorgio Turchetti, Liew, and Rose clocked in at 1:47.27.

In diving, Swun P. Tun led the Scarlet Hawks with a first-place finish in the 1-meter event, while Colin Schultz topped the 3-meter diving. The team's relay strength was further demonstrated in the 400-meter freestyle relay, where the team of Ean Arbogast, Tristan R. Minarik, Eli Riegler, and Turchetti finished first. These performances underscored the team's depth and versatility across individual and team events, leading to a decisive overall victory.

Women's Meet Summary

Illinois Tech's women's team faced a challenging meet against Lake Forest College, finishing second with 81 points. Notable performances included the women's 200 SC Meter Medley Relay team, which secured first place with a time of 2:10.71, led by Kayla Matsumoto, Taryn Oser, Claire van Biljon, and Kristen Hampton. Van Biljon continued her strong showing by winning the 200 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:18.65 and taking second in the 100 SC Meter Butterfly. Matsumoto excelled in the 50 SC Meter Freestyle, capturing first place and adding a third-place finish in the 100 SC Meter Freestyle. Oser clinched victory in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke. On the diving board, Hannah Malin placed second with a score of 150.65, contributing significantly to the team's overall points. Despite these strong individual performances, the Scarlet Hawks trailed the Foresters in the final standings.
