Chicago, Ill. — The Illinois Tech Men's Tennis team (0-2) batlled hard in a close match but ultimately fell to Greenville (1-2) with a 5-2 score on Friday at the XS Tennis Center. The Scarlet Hawks dropped four third set tie-breakers, paving the way for Greenville's victory.

With this result, Illinois Tech stands at 0-2, while Greenville improved to 1-2 overall.

One positive for the Hawks: Illinois Tech showcased strength in doubles, winning all three matches.

Match Highlights

The Scarlet Hawks claimed the doubles point convincingly. At No. 1 doubles, Alexander Feher and Tanay Sharma edged out Jade Dynamic and Francisco Trujillo, 7-5. Following them, Pedro Roca and Hozumi Tada secured a 6-4 victory over Jean Sanabria and Colton Hulme at No. 2 doubles. Pol Dueso Guell and Joseph Au completed the sweep with a 6-3 win against Patrick Nobbe and Kai Gustafson at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Greenville made a strong comeback. At No. 1 singles, Jean Sanabria defeated Pedro Roca, 6-1, 6-4. Tanay Sharma brought the match to an even score with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Colton Hulme at No. 2 singles. However, Greenville regained momentum as Jade Dynamic battled past Feher in a three-set match, winning 6-2, 4-6, 10-2 at No. 3 singles.

Greenville secured further victories with Francisco Trujillo's tight win over Dueso Guell, 7-6(2), 1-6, 10-8, at No. 4 singles, followed by Noah Garcia Barlagne's 6-1, 2-6, 14-12 triumph over Tada at No. 5 singles. Finally, Patrick Nobbe sealed the win for Greenville at No. 6 singles, defeating Au 6-3, 5-7, 10-5.
