Bloomington, Ill.– Illinois Tech track & field traveled to Illinois Wesleyan University this weekend to compete at the Keck DIII Select to gain some valuable experience on the track, in the pits, and the ring.
On the women's team, Annaelle Mukash secured 7th place in the 200 Meter Dash with a personal record time of 26.57. Zoe Turner finished 5th in the 400 Meter Dash, clocking in at 59.68. Annika McKown achieved 3rd place in High Jump with a height of 1.55m. Maria Plencner finished 10th in Shot Put with a personal record distance of 10.33m.
On the men's team Carson Owens claimed 2nd in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 6.95s for a new school record! Isaiah John placed 5th in the Men Weight Throw, achieving a personal record distance of 14.56m. After a 7th place finish on day one Finnick Poulin held his ground to finish 7th overall in the Men's Heptathlon breaking his school record scoring 3422 points
Head Coach Tyler McQuality said, "Another step towards our goals as we had a great meet across the board highlighted by multiple school records!"
Throw's Coach Lucas Taylor highlighted his two senior leaders "Great meet by our throwers this week, Maria and Isaiah stand out with 2 new PR's, and the others continuing their journeys of putting everything together"
Sprints Coach Brendan Batliner praised the teams' resilience through the lengthy season of Track and Field, "I'm proud of our Hawks for giving their best at a competitive meet. With four weeks of the season behind us, we're seeing performances trend in the right direction as we continue to raise the bar for how fast and far our sprinters and jumpers can go!"
Assistant Coach Evan Balizado said "Our vaulters had a long, incredible day. We had 13hrs of competition highlighted by a multi school record, a women's school record, and first attempts at a 12-foot bar for an Illinois Tech vaulter since 2018!"
