Milwaukee, Wis. - Samantha Gargiulo of Illinois Tech Women's Lacrosse earned Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Student-Athlete of the Week - Defensive honors for Women's Lacrosse for her performance for the Scarlet Hawks this past week.
Gargiulo, a junior goalkeeper and Behavioral Health and Wellness major from Downers Grove, Illinois, established a new Illinois Tech single-match record for saves against Hamline on March 1st. The Pipers fired 51 shots on the day, with Gargiulo making 22 saves. The previous program record of 21 was set by Taylor Thompson, who did it twice in the 2014 season. Gargiulo also made seven saves against Saint Mary's (Ind.) and scooped up a total of five ground balls between the two matches. Gargiulo currently ranks 2nd in the NACC in saves per game with 12.33 and 2nd in save percentage with .500.
