Men's Tennis Handles Business In 6-1 Home Win Over UW-Stevens Point

Chicago, Ill. — Bouncing back from a tough 5-2 loss to North Central College last Saturday, the Illinois Tech Men's Tennis team (3-4) rolled over UW-Stevens Point (8-10) with a commanding 6-1 victory on Sunday at the XS Tennis Center. The Scarlet Hawks claimed all three doubles matches and took five out of six singles matches to seal the win.

How It Happened

Illinois Tech set the tone early by sweeping the doubles matches. The dynamic duo of Alexander Feher and Tanay Sharma clinched a nail-biting tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles, 7-6(7), against Ayden Knuth and Augie Nelson. Over at No. 2 doubles, Pedro Roca and Hozumi Tada delivered a solid 6-2 triumph over Anthony Janes and Dawson Froemming. Pol Dueso Guell and Tejas Sheth completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 against Conner Kryscio and Jacob Stinski.

In singles action, the Scarlet Hawks continued their dominant streak. Pedro Roca showed resilience in a come-from-behind three-set victory at No. 1 singles, overcoming Dawson Froemming, 4-6, 6-1, 10-6. Tanay Sharma added a straightforward win at No. 2 singles, downing Conner Kryscio 6-1, 6-1. Feher kept the momentum going with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Janes at No. 3 singles.

Pol Dueso Guell added to the Scarlet Hawks' impressive performance with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles against Stinski. Tada clinched another point at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Knuth. The Pointers managed their sole singles win at No. 6, where Nelson edged out Joseph Au, 6-4, 6-4.
