Men's Tennis Sweeps Weekend Play To Move NACC Record To 4-0

Illinois Tech Men's Tennis NACC Weekend Recap 4/11/26 - 4/12/26

Chicago, Ill. and Jackson, Wis. — No. 72 Illinois Tech Men's Tennis (10-5, 4-0 NACC) had an impressive weekend, defeating Edgewood University (7-12, 1-2 NACC) 7-0 on Saturday at XS Tennis in Chicago while honoring senior Pedro Caro-Accino Roca on Senior Day. The Hawks followed that up with another 7-0 victory against Wisconsin Lutheran College (0-9, 0-3 NACC) on Sunday at the Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club in Jackson, Wisconsin. The Scarlet Hawks demonstrated their dominance by sweeping all doubles and singles matches in both contests.

How It Happened

In the match against Edgewood, Illinois Tech secured the doubles point with a clean sweep on all three courts. At No. 1 doubles, Tanay Sharma and Alexander Feher claimed a 6-2 victory over Ryder Broadbridge and Andrew Hoffmann. Pol Dueso Guell and Tejas Sheth followed with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles against Justin Hutchcroft and Ryan Casey. Hozumi Tada and Pedro Roca completed the sweep with a 6-4 triumph over Jon Olafsson and Marek Woytasik at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Illinois Tech continued its dominant performance. Pol Dueso Guell set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marek Woytasik at No. 4 singles. Alexander Feher extended the lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Andrew Hoffmann at No. 3 singles. Pedro Roca clinched the match at No. 2 singles, defeating Jon Olafsson 6-0, 6-0. The team added to its total with Tanay Sharma's 6-4, 6-4 win over Ryder Broadbridge at No. 1 singles. Tejas Sheth maintained the momentum at No. 6 singles, securing a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ryan Casey. Joseph Au completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Justin Hutchcroft at No. 5 singles, finalizing the dual match score at 7-0.

The next day against Wisconsin Lutheran College, the Scarlet Hawks again delivered a stellar performance. Illinois Tech secured the doubles point decisively, winning all three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Tanay Sharma and Alexander Feher defeated Connor Heezen and Cameron Borchert with a 6-1 victory. Pol Dueso Guell and Tejas Sheth mirrored this performance at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-0 against Myles Harris and TaDarion Perkins. The No. 3 doubles match saw Joseph Au and Nicolas Gil complete the sweep with a 6-3 win over Zach Nelson and Aidan Mattek.

In singles, Illinois Tech continued their dominance, completing a clean sweep. Pedro Roca opened at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory over Connor Heezen. At No. 2 singles, Feher added another point, defeating Cameron Borchert 6-1, 6-1. Dueso Guell secured a 6-1, 6-3 win over TaDarion Perkins at No. 3 singles, and Sheth followed with a 6-0, 6-1 result against Myles Harris at No. 4 singles. Nicolas Gil and Grant Pennock closed out the match with victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, finalizing the Scarlet Hawks' dominant 7-0 win.
