Mequon, Wis. — Illinois Tech Baseball (18-17, 13-7 NACC) continued its strong performance in conference play with a doubleheader sweep against Concordia University Wisconsin (16-8, 12-8 NACC) at Kapco Park on Saturday. The Scarlet Hawks secured a decisive 10-5 victory in the first game, followed by a 7-5 win in the second game.
Game 1 Recap
Illinois Tech capitalized on a seven-run surge in the final three innings of game one, highlighted by a five-run seventh inning. Concordia Wisconsin took an early lead in the second inning when Matt Miller singled to right field, allowing Alex Ames to score after Ames had stolen second, making it 1-0 after two innings.
The Scarlet Hawks responded in the third inning with
Kendall Miyasato's single, leading to a run from
Ryan Fostiak's fielder's choice that tied the game at 1-1. Illinois Tech took the lead in the fourth when
Philip Bentz doubled and scored on a sacrifice groundout by
Logan Inman, making it 2-1. The fifth inning saw an error allow Fostiak to score, but Concordia Wisconsin tied the game at 4-4 with a two-RBI double from Luke Heinkel.
In the seventh, Illinois Tech surged ahead after
