Women's Soccer Dominates In NACC Opener At Aurora

MONTGOMERY, Ill. — Illinois Tech Women's Soccer came into their NACC opener against Aurora Wednesday night looking to make a statement. Statement made, as the Scarlet Hawks defeated the Spartans 7-0. The Hawks finished with a 29-0 advantage in shots, including 19 on goal, while holding the Spartans without a shot.

Illinois Tech is 3-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. The Spartans are 1-4-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.

How It Happened

Illinois Tech generated early pressure with a corner kick and a Kayla Frassinelli shot on frame before Eva Narvarte scored at 4:57 off an Emma Conway assist for a 1-0 lead. The Scarlet Hawks continued to create chances, including three Taylor Hernandez shots and a Tvesa Vathulya attempt, then Narvarte scored again at 22:45 from Grace Yager to make it 2-0. Olivia Roy added a goal at 26:46, and Kayla Thomas followed at 27:57 off a Leyna Yonehara assist to push the lead to 4-0. Elisa Salcedo scored at 36:48, and Illinois Tech carried a 5-0 advantage into halftime.

The Scarlet Hawks carried the early second-half action with a corner kick at 46:17, another at 57:15 and shots from Yager and Roy before adding a third corner at 64:29. The pressure turned into goals after Gabrielle West forced a save at 71:53 and Conway hit the left woodwork at 72:41, with Kaitlyn Walsh scoring at 72:50 to make it 6-0. Walsh scored again at 75:02 off an assist from Salcedo, pushing the lead to 7-0. Illinois Tech continued to generate late chances, including shots by Jolyne Ma, Kayla Thomas and Walsh, and closed out the 7-0 win.
