Chicago, IL – Tech volleyball fans showed up in numbers for the weekday evening affair to cheer on the team and the "Paint It Pink" as a common cause. With help from some campus partners like members of the sorority Kappa Phi Delta organizing the event "Paint IIT Pink" for breast cancer awareness and to benefit the Susan G Komen foundation. The gym, athletic complex and campus were splashed with hints of pink throughout. The stands were a sea of pink for their Hawks. The ladies went to the wire with the first two games, one going extra points and overall coming up short in the 3-0 loss to Cardinal Stritch University (25-27, 20-25 and 11-25).
Middle hitter Taylor Duman finished with nine kills and one block. Outside hitterKate Kendall finished the night with eight kills to pair with 16 digs. Roma Mirutenkochipped in eight kills. Brittany Mead and Shea Manley picked up the defense with 14 digs each as Shea added three kills as well.
The Hawks are now 8-14 on the season and next up is Saint Xavier University at home Thursday, October 17th at 7:00 pm.
