Bourbonnais, IL – Illinois Tech suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Olivet Nazarene University on a cool Saturday evening on the ONU campus.
IIT got off to a troubled start conceding the first goal after only 3 minutes. ONU's Michael Da Silva swung a deep corner to the back post which was met by an unmarked Yonda Abogunrin. The home side created numerous chances but with a combination of goaltending and Hawks luck keeping the score to 1-0. However in the 26th minute, ONU's Tyler Gill doubled the home side's advantage with a calm finish past IIT's EJ Yang.
After the break, a renewed Illinois Tech side showed glimpses of fluidity but were unable to break through the Tiger's defense. Brandon Ramirez had the best chance of the game for the visitors' when he found himself in behind the ONU backline. However he was unable to connect his shot wide of the right upright. Despite a relatively even second half, ONU added a third 42 seconds from time with Miguel Fierro finding the back of the net, completing a 3-0 loss for the Scarlet Hawks.
Next on the schedule is Wednesday, October 30th against Saint Xavier University. With the contest to start at 7:00pm at the friendly confines of Stuart Field on Illinois Tech's main campus.
