Rarick Shines in Loss to North Park

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology men's basketball team competed at nearby North Park University on Saturday afternoon. Tech fell 81-69 despite a stellar offensive game from junior Samuel Rarick.

How it Happened

  • Tech started out the game strong by taking an early lead. Freshman Quentin Forberg, making his first start of the season, hit a three on the opening possession.
  • The two teams traded early leads until North Park took control around the 12 minute mark. The Vikings went on a 11-0 run to take a 23-13 lead. 
  • Tech cut the lead to five late in the first half, but the Vikings led 37-28 at halftime.
  • Three-pointers on three straight possessions (two from Matt Peters, one from Jake Bruns) and two Anthony Mosley Jr. free throws brought Tech to withing three with 14:29 left in the second half, but the Vikings built the lead back up as the half progresses.
  • North Park hit six free throws in the last 36 seconds to hold on to the lead and win 81-69.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Rarick led Illinois Tech's scoring attack, tallying 21 points on 10-of-19 shooting. He also added nine rebounds.
  • Mosley added 11 points off the bench to go along with five assists and two steals.
  • Peters had nine points and hit all of his three-point shots.
  • Jake Digiorgio scored eight points and had a team-high 10 rebounds.

North Park Notes

  • Juwan Henry scored 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
  • Jordan Robinson scored 20 points with 13 rebounds.

Stats to Know

  • Tech shot 40.8% from the floor (28-69) while North Park was 38.7% (29-75).
  • Tech hit a season-high seven three-point shots.
  • Tech outrebounded North Park 47-41, but lost the turnover battle 18-6.
