Scarlet Hawks Come Up Short 5-4 Against Falcons

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's tennis team hosted Concordia (Wis.) for a Sunday-afternoon tilt at the XS-Tennis Center. The Scarlet Hawks' three-game win streak to open the 2021 season was snapped with a 5-4 loss to the Falcons.

Illinois Tech falls to 3-1, 3-1 NACC while Concordia (Wis.) improves to 5-4, 2-0 NACC.

Morgan Colbert continued her dynamite season in No. 1 doubles as she teamed with Kylie Hance for an 8-6 victory over Ricki Budewitz/Ashley Samuta. No. 2 doubles resulted in an 8-4 victory for Mouna Chahin/Ramya Nissankula over Mia Andrae/Elizabeth Johnson, which gave the Scarlet Hawks a 2-1 lead heading into the singles flight. 

The top of the singles lineup came through with wins for Illinois Tech, thanks to Colbert's 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Ricki Budewitz in the No. 1 slot. Kyle Hance notched a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 decision over Ashley Samuta in No. 2 singles.

The Scarlet Hawks will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, April 17 at a time to be determined.
