Milwaukee, Wis. - Although their season concluded in the conference tournament quarterfinals yesterday, the Illinois Tech women's volleyball team secured a win off the court this afternoon when
Grace Reckamp,
Anna Elena Sofia Sebastio and
Karla Trautmann Mendez were all named to the 2024 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Volleyball All-Conference team.
Reckamp, a senior setter/outside hitter and Biomedical Engineering major from Villa Park, Illinois, was named a Second-Team All-Conference selection. This is Reckamp's first all-conference honor. Reckamp, one of the team's 3 captains, was first on the team in assists with 500, first in service aces with 47, second in digs with 258, third in kills with 177 and sixth in total blocks with 31. Reckamp's 0.46 service aces per set ranked eighth in the conference. During the season, Reckamp also recorded her 1000th career assist in the Scarlet Hawks' 3-0 home win against Lake Forest on September 28th. Reckamp, who was primarily a setter during her first three seasons, took on a hybrid setter/outside hitter role this season, and flourished as an all-around performer. Reckamp was one of only two Scarlet Hawks to play in all 30 matches and all 103 sets.
Sebastio, a junior libero and Aerospace Engineering major from Berlin, Germany, was named a Second-Team All-Conference selection. This is Sebastio's first all-conference honor. Sebastio, primarily an outside hitter and defensive specialist during her first two seasons, took on the role of libero this season after that role was vacated by departing seniors. Sebastio led the team in digs with 487, and her 4.73 digs per set ranked second in the NACC. Sebastio was also second on the team in service aces with 36 and third on the team in assists with 100. Sebastio also played in all 30 matches and all 103 sets on the season. Sebastio was voted the NACC Women's Volleyball Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of October 7th - October 13th.
Trautmann Mendez, a sophomore middle blocker/hitter and Architecture major from Utuado, Puerto Rico, was named an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. This is Trautmann Mendez's second consecutive all-conference selection, as she was named honorable mention all-conference during her first-year season last year. Trautmann Mendez, one of the team's 3 captains, was the team leader in kills with 256. Her 2.67 kills per set also led the team and placed her 13th in the conference. Trautmann Mendez also ranked 12th in the conference in points per set at 3.15. She was fourth on the team in service aces with 28, fourth on the team in digs with 160, and fifth on the team in total blocks with 34. Trautmann Mendez played in all 30 matches and 96 of 103 sets on the season.
