Chicago, Ill. - Although the 2025 season didn't end the way the Illinois Tech men's lacrosse team wanted it to, with a first-round exit in the conference post-season tournament, the Scarlet Hawks can take solace in the fact that seven players were named to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Lacrosse All-Conference team.
Named to the 2025 Men's Lacrosse All-NACC team were
Jackson Brass,
Henry Rankin,
Kyle Johnson,Â
Micah Manookian,Â
Diego Sosa,
Connor Montgomery and
Bodey Goertzen.
Brass, the senior attacker and Mechanical Engineering major from Woodland Hills, Calinfornia, was named a Second Team All-Conference selection. For Brass, this was his fourth-consecutive Second-Team All-Conference selection, making all-conference every season of his Illinois Tech playing career. Brass finished the season as the team's leading scorer with 53 points on 33 goals and 20 assists. Brass was sixth in the conference in points per game with 3.12, 12th in goals per game at 1.94 and 10th in assists per game game at 1.18. Brass had two game-winning goals on the season, while collecting 31 ground balls and causing 8 turnovers. Brass finishes his Scarlet Hawks career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 193 points on 129 goals and 64 assists.
Rankin, the graduate student defender and Architectural Engineering major from Bay Village, Ohio, was named an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. This was Rankin's third all-conference selection, making second-team all-conference in 2022 and honorable mention in 2024. Rankin led all position-players on the team in ground balls with 46 and caused turnovers with 40. Rankin was fourth in the conference in caused turnovers per game with 2.50, and 20th in ground balls per game with 2.88. Rankin added a pair of goals and an assist for 3 points offensively. Rankin finishes his Scarlet Hawks career with 154 ground balls and 136 caused turnovers.
Johnson, the senior goalkeeper and Architecture major from Lakewood, California, was named as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. It was Johnson's second all-conference selection, earning honorable mention last season. Johnson finished the season with an 8.76 goals-against average, which ranked third in the conference, and a .599 save percentage, also ranking third in the conference. Johnson finished fourth in the conference in saves per game with 11.59. Johnson finishes his Scarlet Hawks career with a 9.72 goals against average and a .580 save percentage, tallying 426 career saves. Johnson was also named to the NACC Men's Lacrosse All-Tournament team for this past season.
Manookian, the junior midfielder and Communications major from Riverside, California, was named as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. For Manookian, it was his second all-conference selection, earning second-team honors last season. Manookian ended his 2025 campaign with 4 points on 3 goals and 1 assist. He recovered 18 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers. Manookian is frequently marking the opposing team's top offensive threats.
Sosa, a junior midfielder and Psychology major from Los Angeles, California, was named as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. This is Sosa's second consecutive all-conference selection, earning honorable mention honors last season. Sosa was tied for second on the team in scoring with 34 points on the strength of 27 goals and 7 assists. Sosa led the team in shots with 146. Sosa also had 14 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers.
Montgomery, a freshman attacker and Psychology major from Morgantown, West Virginia, was named as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. In his first collegiate season, Montgomery was tied for second on the team in scoring with 34 points on 27 goals and 7 assists. Montgomery was third on the team in total shots with 101, with 65 on goal for a .644 shots on goal percentage to lead the team. Montgomery also collected 14 ground balls and caused 3 turnovers.
Goertzen, a freshman defender and Mechanical Engineering major from Woodbury, Minnesota, was named as an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. Goertzen started all 17 games as a first-year player, recovering 17 ground balls and causing 16 turnovers. Goertzen also scored his first career goal in the Scarlet Hawks game against Kalamazoo on March 1st. Goertzen was part of a defense that was third in the conferrence with 11 caused turnovers per game.
The Scarlet Hawks had hoped to make a deep post-season run, and were on target to host a first round conference tournament match. But losses at Dubuque and Lake Forest College to end the regular season dropped the Hawks into the 6th seed, and a season-ending 13-5 loss at number three seed Concordia Wisconsin on April 26th.
The Hawks finished the season 8-9 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
The Hawks will look to regroup next season and push to make the next step. They will do so without 6 graduating players. In addition to Brass, Johnson and Rankin, the Scarlet Hawks will also be graduating
Jonathan Vitale,
Yano Porter and
Ty Dwyer.
Still, the Hawks were able to get significant contributions from newcomers Montgomery and Goertzen, as well as freshmen Will Von Eysey,
Marc Rebusi,
Canyon Kuchel,
Duwayne Aikins and
Tomas Shefrin among other first-years.
The Hawks will also have Sosa and Manookian returning, along with defender
Altan Brown among other returners.
Andrew Potter will look to take over goalkeeping duties from the departing Johnson, with
Ryan Littler also in the mix.
