Bloomington, Ill. — Illinois Tech's track and field team secured four event victories at their season-opening meet at the Illinois Wesleyan Coach Shoe Invite in Bloomington, Illinois this past Saturday, highlighted by freshman Carson Owens claiming first in both the men's 60 and 400 meters.
The women's team took third place with 55 points, while the men's team finished in fifth place with 33 points.
Sprints
Carson Owens captured first place in the Men's 60 Meters Finals with a time of 7.11. In the Women's 200 Meters,
Zoe Turner finished second with a time of 26.62. Notably,
Annaelle Mukash established a new women's school indoor record in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.22 seconds.
Middle Distance
Owens also secured first place in the Men's 400 Meters with a time of 51.84. Turner took home first place in the Women's 400 Meters with a time of 1:00.76. In the Women's 800 Meters,
Rachel Brettin led the field with a time of 2:35.58, followed by
Brianna Sorrillo in third at 2:36.54 and
Isabelle Pullen in fourth at 2:37.44.
Distance
In the Men's Mile, Lane Regan finished fourth with a time of 4:45.33. For the Women's 3000 Meters,
Sophia Halama placed fifth with a time of 12:00.33.
Hurdles
Finnick Poulin secured fourth place in the Men's 60 Hurdles with a time of 11.04.
Jumps
In the Women's High Jump,
Annika McKown achieved third place with a mark of 1.50m. In the Men's Pole Vault, Evan Gorrell placed sixth with a mark of 3.35m.
Throws
In the Women's Shot Put,
Olivia McMath finished fifth with a mark of 9.60m. Isaiah John placed fifth in the Men's Weight Throw with a mark of 13.90m.
