WHEATON, Ill. — Illinois Tech Track & Field turned in a strong showing at the Wheaton Don Church Twilight Invite, highlighted by a first-place finish from Olivia Jameson in the high jump and a runner-up performance from Carson Owens in the men's 400-meter dash.
"The team handled tough conditions of colder temps and high winds to give us another benchmark two weeks out of our ultimate goal," said Head Coach Tyler McQuality. "I was very pleased with Annika and Olivia's high jump performances, attempting season's best bars!"
Olivia Jameson cleared 1.62 meters to claim the event title, marking the top performance of the meet for the Scarlet Hawks. Carson Owens followed with a standout effort on the track, finishing second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.95 seconds.
In the sprints, Zoe Turner finished the women's 200-meter dash, second in 25.40. Isabelle Pullen added a sixth-place finish in the women's 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 1:04.24.
"The wind on Saturday gave our sprinters a big boost towards lots of personal bests," said Sprints Coach Brendan Batliner. "Some were luckily wind legal, including Annika's amazing 100m hurdle performance, a long time coming. All eyes are now on conference and sharpening up at our last regular season meet next weekend."
Annika McKown represented Illinois Tech in the hurdles, earning seventh place in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.35.
The Scarlet Hawks also saw contributions in the field events. In the men's hammer throw, Isaiah John placed ninth with a mark of 41.23 meters. Ty Garrison matched that in the men's javelin throw, 39.86 meters.
