This Friday, September 1st, the Illinois Tech men's soccer team launches their 2023 season campaign when the Scarlet Hawks welcome the University of Olivet Comets to Stuart Field for a 6:00 PM non-conference match-up.

The Hawks, who finished the 2022 season with a 10-8-1 overall record and a 4-7-1 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record, look to improve on their performance for the upcoming 2023 season. Throughout the 2022 season, the Hawks tallied 40 goals for a 2.11 goals per game average, 271 shots for a 14.3 shots per game average, 28 assists, and 88 saves. The Hawks will look to build in each of these categories for 2023.

When asked about the upcoming 2023 season, Head Coach Marc Colwell stated the following: "I'm excited about the challenge of a new season with a strong core of returners mixed with a large and talented incoming recruiting class. Each team has its own identity and I am enjoying watching this group work to find theirs. They have come together and shown they are ready to battle to prove our place in the NACC."

On August 23rd, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) released the men's soccer pre-season poll. The Illinois Institute of Technology men's soccer team was voted by the NACC coaches and head athletics communications professionals to finish in ninth for the upcoming 2023 season. The Scarlet Hawks received 136 points and 6 first-place votes in the poll.

Milwaukee School of Engineering led the poll in votes, receiving 316 points and 12 first-place votes. Aurora University followed closely in second place with 305 votes and 8 first-place votes. Dominican University rounded out the top three with 282 points and 5 first-place votes.

22 players return for the upcoming season, including 9 seniors, 4 juniors, and 7 sophomores. Senior Michael Kaczowka led the Hawks last season in goals and assists, recording 12 and 6 respectively.
