MADISON, Wis. - The Illinois Tech baseball team played a pair of two seven-inning contests at Eodgewood College on Friday evening. The Scarlet Hawks downed the Eagles 3-1 in game one before falling 18-5 in game two.

How it Happened - Game One

• The Scarlet Hawks jumped on the board first, plating a run in the top of the second on a two-out single from third baseman Orlando Cardenas-Juan.
• After Tech starter Kyle Bumpass fired a scoreless first inning and struck out the side in the second, the Eagles finally were able to get to him in the third. The hosts singled three times, leading to a tie score (1-1) after three.
• It did not take long for the Scarlet Hawks to back Bumpass, as the offense took the lead back in the top of the fourth. With runners on first and third with two outs, an errant throw on a DJ Rybski steal of second allowed Cardenas-Juan to score from third base.
• After Bumpass induced an inning-ending flyout with runners on second in third in the bottom of the fourth, the Scarlet Hawks would make it a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth on a single from Bumpass himself.
• Over the next two innings, Bumpass allowed just two baserunners as the Scarlet Hawks cruised to a win.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts - Game One

• Bumpass won his third straight start, allowing just one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out six. He has now allowed just two runs on 14 hits over his last 25 innings of work, going 3-0 in that span.
• Bumpass (2-for-4, RBI) and Ted Howell (2-for-3, run) were the only two Scarlet Hawks with multi-hit games.

How it Happened - Game Two

• Edgewood put up a three-spot in the bottom of the first inning, as the Scarlet Hawks made two of its season-high eight errors in the frame.
• After Edgewood added one more run in the second, the Eagles opened the game up with four runs in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead.
• Tech would work its way back into the contest in the top of the fifth, scoring four times. Tech scored all the runs despite recording just one hit in the inning, a leadoff single from designated hitter James Tarala.
• After Edgewood scored four times in the bottom of the fifth, Tech scored on a Rybski RBI single in the sixth.
• Edgewood added six more in the bottom of the sixth to complete the scoring.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts - Game Two

• Rybski was the only Scarlet Hawk with two hits (2-for-4, RBI).
• Tyler Tucker, Zachary Dickey, and Tarala all recored a hit and a run scored.
• Howell (hit by pitch), Jonathon Wilcox (walk), and Christian Lopez (sacrafice fly) all drove in runs without recording a hit.
