Chicago, Ill. - Toni Martinez of women's lacrosse and Cooper Leonard of men's lacrosse are the recipients of Scarlet Hawk of the Week honors for the week of March 30th.
Martinez, a senior attacker and Business and Public Policy major from Atlanta, Georgia, had a banner week, putting together a 15-point effort over two matches as the Scarlet Hawks went 1-1 last week. Martinez started the week with 7 goals and 1 assist in the Hawks 19-10 loss at CUW on Tuesday. Martinez followed that up with 4 goals and 3 assists in the Scarlet Hawks come-from-behind victory over Marian on Saturday for the Hawks' first NACC win of the season. For the week, Martinez had 11 goals, 4 assists, 17 shots, 14 on goal, for an .824 shots on goal percentage, to go along with 8 draw controls and 3 ground balls.
Leonard, the first-year attacker and Electrical Engineering major from Somers, Connecticut, had 5 goals and 1 assist for 6 points, including both game-winning goals, in the Scarlet Hawks two conference wins this past week. Leonard tallied 3 goals, including the opening goal and eventual game-winning goal in the Hawks 6-5 win over MSOE on Wednesday. On Saturday, Leonard scored 2 goals, including the game-winner, while adding an assist in the Scarlet Hawks' 14-2 win over Marian. For the week, Leonard had 14 shots, 10 on goal for a .714 shots on goal percentage, while adding 3 ground balls.
