Win Streak Moves to Three as Hawks Top Cornell

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team continued its strong play on Saturday afternoon with a dominating performance. Tech won its third straight match and four Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference contest of the season with an 18-0 defeat of Cornell College.

How it Happened

  • Cassandra Reineke began the scoring with her first goal of the season, scoring just 23 seconds into the match.
  • The Scarlet Hawks would tally five more times prior to the 20:00 mark. Three of those goals came from Isabel Fitzpatrick-Meyers.
  • Five goals from five different Scarlet Hawks rounded out the first-half scoring, as Tech went into halftime up 11-0. The 11 goals are the most the Scarlet Hawks have scored in a half this season.
  • The second half began like the first, as Sarah Colby scored just over three minutes in.
  • Tech would score six more times in the second half courtsey of five different players.

  • Fitzpatrick-Meyers tallied six times to go along with an assist and three groundballs.
  • Colby (three goals) and Madison Meredith (two goals) also found the back of the next multiple times to go along with an assist a piece. Meredith led the team with five draw controls.
  • Isabella Rubin, Sarah Maciorowski, Mimi Hoeller, Reineke, Heather Bennett, Briana Villagrana, and Jennifery Young all scored once. Hoeller, Reineke, Villagrana, and Young all scored for the first time this season.
  • Abbie Reynolds moved to 5-2 on the season in net.

  • The Scarlet Hawks were a perfect 11-of-11 on clears. Cornell was 5-of-13.
