Chicago, Ill. - Kristen Hampton of women's swimming and diving and Eli Riegler of men's swimming and diving are the recipients of Scarlet Hawk of the Week honors for the week of February 9th.
Hampton, a senior Architecture major from Fort Collins, Colorado, earned 3 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the Liberal Arts Championships this past week in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin. Hampton took first-place honors in both the 400 IM as well as the 1650 yard freestyle, with times of 4:45.53 and 18:04.39, respectively. Hampton also took third-place in the 500 freestyle finals. In relays, Hampton was the anchor in the team's second-place 400-yard freestyle relay team, while also being the leadoff in the teams third-place 200-yard freestyle relay team. Hampton finished second on the women's team with 538 points.
Riegler, a sophomore Architecture major from New Albany, Ohio, earned 2 golds and 2 silver medals at the Liberal Arts Championships this past week in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin. Riegler took first-place honors in both the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:41.79) and the men's 500-yard freestyle (4:36.62). His silver medals came in the 1650 freestyle and in the 800 freestyle relay events. His 650 points in the championships was just 2 points shy of the men's team-leading 652 points by Zeng Wye Liew.
